We continued to work on journals and free choice writing. For our poetry lesson, I read some poems about love and friendship by Shel Silverstein. Students were given a heart-shaped writing paper to write a short poem or note for a friend or family member. Stickers, crayons, and markers were provided for decorating the heart. I also showed them how to fold it into an envelope.
We will be moving on from poetry now, and learning more about how to create characters, write sentences (K/1), and paragraphs (2/3).
